Homemade flour tortillas

Soft, tender, buttery homemade flour tortillas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 70 g butter salted
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  • Add the flour and salt together in a bowl.
  • Pour over the melted butter and mix in well.
  • Add the hot water and mix with a spoon until it comes together
  • Lightly knead dough into a ball, but do not over mix it as you want your dough to be soft and springy.
  • Cover dough and let rest for at least 10minutes.
  • Divide dough into 12 portions and roll into balls.
  • Flour your surface and rolling pin
  • Roll out each ball into a circle. Add extra flour to prevent your tortilla sticking.
  • Cook your tortillas in a hot, ungreased pan. Fry on each side for about 40-60 seconds. Flip the tortillas once they has bubbled up and have golden brown spots.
  • Once cooked place your tortilla in a clean tea towel to keep warm and soft until you are ready to eat.
